XRP Ledger (XRPL) L2 Evernode (EVERS) Postpones Mainnet Launch
Evernode (EVERS) has confirmed that Xumm will release its update with Xahau support on December 18. Consequently, the launch of Evernode will be on January 15, 2024.
Evernode Mainnet Planned for Eventualities
According to a published statement, Xumm plans to release its update with Xahau support on 18 December after a long time of waiting for confirmation. Once this update is introduced, the community will have the tools required to import their r-address and set a trustline for Evers. A few weeks after this, Evernode’s launch, which has been rescheduled, will follow.
The decision to release the Xahau support on December 18 is responsible for the rescheduling of Evernode’s launch as the team was keen on releasing the solution before the Christmas holiday. Notably, the community will require at least one week to download the Xumm update, then get used to interacting with Xahau, import their r-address, and set an Evers trustline.
From calculations, if the community takes this time to get used to the released Xahau support, it would likely eat deep into the Christmas season, plus there would be summer holiday shutdown in Australia. The new date happens to be the earliest Monday following the Christmas and New Year holiday. Ultimately, it gives the community time to familiarize themselves with trading on the Xahau DEX.
Essence of the Evernode Airdrop
Once the launch is successful, people who are interested in hosting on Evernode can get the 500 EVERS they need to register. Last month, Evernode announced a massive airdrop for XRPL holders who wish to transition from XRP Ledger to Xahau network. A total of 5,160,960 EVERS was earmarked to be distributed among registered addresses on the Xahau network.
Looking at this, these airdropped EVERS need to flow from those who don’t want to hold Evers to those that do. Evernode is hopeful that the launch will coincide with a CEX listing of Evers. The team is still working on other upgrades to enhance the Evernode launch.
At the beginning of the second half of this year, an independent XRPL developer published the first Evernode standard proposal in a bid to enhance node functionality on HotPocket.
