Watch Out: Popular Altcoin’s Official Twitter Account Hacked, Security Firm Warns
In a recent development, the official Twitter account of Compound (COMP), a popular altcoin, was compromised by hackers. The alarming news was reported by Scam Sniffer, a company specializing in cryptocurrency security.
Users were warned not to click on any links sent from the compromised account. A phishing link designed to trick users into sharing sensitive information was detected in recent posts from the account.
The security company urged all users to be careful and ensure the safety of their assets by avoiding suspicious links.
Adding to the complexity of the situation, fake airdrop messages were published from the official Compound account. The messages claim that Compound Finance has reached $1 billion in total lending volume and is distributing free COMP to all wallets that interact with its protocols.
