Bitfinex Hacker Razzlekhan Shares Her ‘Jail Song’

Heather “Razzlekhan” Morgan has released a song she claims to have written in solitary confinement during the lead up to her sentencing for the infamous $10.8 billion Bitfinex hack in 2016.

The rapper is still deciding on a title of either “Stay Strong” or “Miss Someone.” The track is about dealing with being separated from the one you love. This is in reference to not seeing her husband, Ilya Lichtenstein, outside of a courtroom for the past three years.

“Remember time nor space can break that bond. Even in death, the soul still lives on,” Razzlekhan raps, reading from a beat up notebook. “I know it can hurt like hell. This pain got you feeling unwell. Whether they far apart, dead, or in jail. Serving a lifetime sentence or can’t get bail. Just know you’re not alone.”

The rapper-turned-convicted-Bitcoin-thief was sentenced to 18 months in prison in November, for her role in the Bitfinex hack. This attack saw Morgan and her husband steal $11.7 billion worth of BTC (by today’s price) from the exchange before laundering it through various coin mixers and darknet markets.

Morgan claims to have been held in solitary confinement for the majority of her time in jail, in the lead up to her sentencing—she says there was no “clear reason” to why she was held there. During this period, in February 2022, she was recovering from surgery with an open wound, she explains.

“I had, honestly, some pretty dark moments. I was pretty positive most of the time,” Morgan said, “I managed to stay strong except when I got COVID, probably from the guard. It was just, you know, a couple moments where I actually lost hope. There [were] only a few, but it happened.”

This is when she decided to write a song about missing her partner, who was sentenced to five years in prison for his involvement in the case.

Razzlekhan’s rapped the closing to her song: “Keep on praying for what the future brings. Inshallah.”

Immediately, without skipping a beat, she went into a monologue about her outfit—that she says she sewed when in home confinement.

“This is corny but—if you like my outfit, you’re wondering about it—I sewed it myself when I was in home confinement,” she said, gesturing to her top and leggings. “My mom taught me how to sew, and I sewed the whole entire thing.”

Morgan and Lichtenstein both confessed to the crime last summer, agreeing to forfeit all funds gained from the attack—including gold coins the couple bought and buried.

Before her arrest, Morgan had made a name for herself due to her role as a writer, rapper, and social media influencer. Namely her song ‘Versace Bedouin’ has racked up over 450,000 views on YouTube. The track is meant to represent who she is, “a badass CEO and female rapper,” the video’s description claims.

Now set to spend 18 months in prison, and her husband up to five years, the pair will no longer be able to communicate.

“It’s going to be really hard to not be able to communicate directly at all while we are both locked up for a little bit,” Morgan said. “But I know we’ll get through it somehow.”
