On Aug. 16, 2024, with bitcoin (BTC) hovering above the $58,000 mark, a bitcoin wallet that had been untouched since Jan. 8, 2014, moved 174.88 BTC for the first time in over a decade. Back when the funds were initially secured by the P2PKH (Pay to Public Key Hash) address, they were valued at $151,970. Fast forward to today, and that same 174.88 BTC is now worth a staggering $10.2 million. Blockchair, a blockchain explorer, rated the privacy of this transfer with a score of 25 out of 100, categorizing it as “low” for identified matched addresses. As of the latest data, a high-priority transaction fee sits at approximately 5 satoshis per virtual byte (sat/vB), which translates to about $0.41. However, the individual behind this transaction chose to pay 300 sat/vB, resulting in an overpayment of more than 50 times, with a total of 67,500 satoshis, or $39.42. This hefty fee ensured that the transaction was swiftly confirmed in block 857,034.
