Electronic Music Duo Disclosure Drop AI-Powered NFTs on Beatport

Grammy-nominated electronic music duo Disclosure is releasing 1,000 unique NFTs offering different versions of their track “Simply Won’t Do,” which was first released in July 2023 as part of their “Alchemy” album. The NFT collection, Disclosure Bronze Editions, will be released on Beatport’s NFT marketplace, the platform announced Tuesday.

“The concept of offering 1,000 unique variations of ‘Simply Won’t Do’ is a groundbreaking step in music production,” said Disclosure’s Guy Lawrence in a statement. “It goes beyond providing a product; it’s an invitation for our fans to own a piece of our musical history. The diversity and complexity in this project represent an unprecedented level of creativity and fun, and we’re excited to share this unique experience with our audience,” he added.

The NFTs were developed with Bronze AI technology, which is an AI-powered generative music engine still in early access at time of writing. Bronze can take existing pieces of music and remake them using AI. Disclosure previously worked with Bronze to create a 10-year anniversary endless mix for their debut album “Settle.”

Each NFT will cost $20 and give buyers “exclusive ownership of the distinctive, one-of-a-kind track, never to be reproduced or available anywhere else,” according to a statement. NFT collectors will also own a unique piece of corresponding artwork designed with German art collective Studio Grotesk.

Disclosure—which consists of brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence—have been exploring and releasing NFTs for years. Guy previously told The Delphi Podcast back in 2021 that he believes in the potential of music NFTs as a way to appeal to fans and collectors and is also interested in crypto music streaming platforms like Audius.

As a music duo, Disclosure broke into the electronic music world in the early 2010s. Their first three albums were all nominated for Grammy Awards.

Music streaming service Beatport launched its NFT marketplace earlier this year on the Polkadot parachain Aventus. In July, Beatport released NFTs created by Berlin nightclub bouncer and photographer Mischa Fanghaenel.
