Facebook, a social media giant owned by Meta, experienced significant downtime, affecting thousands of its users globally.

Reports began flooding in on Downdetector, a popular platform for tracking online service outages, with over 17,000 users voicing their difficulties in accessing the platform.

Downdetector data shows issues faced

Analysis of the reports on Downdetector revealed a breakdown of the issues encountered: 64% of the complaints were related to difficulties accessing the website, 22% of users experienced problems with the mobile app, and 14% had issues logging into the service.

This indicates a broad spectrum of disruptions affecting various aspects of Facebook’s services.

The outage was first reported around 3 pm GMT and persisted into the writing of this report, leaving many users unable to connect to the platform as usual.
