‘MemeFi’ Telegram Game Reveals Airdrop Date Amid Move From Ethereum to Sui
Just weeks before its token launch and airdrop, the developers of popular Telegram tap-to-earn combat game MemeFi have announced a shift to the Sui network, along with other details around the upcoming token launch.
MemeFi was previously being built on Ethereum layer-2 scaling network Linea, but the team said Friday that the game’s token will launch on layer-1 network Sui instead. The developers said they’ve teamed up with Sui network creator Mysten Labs on strategic initiatives around the launch, including marketing efforts and plans to showcase the broader Sui ecosystem.
“MemeFi will help Sui integrate into Telegram (and the plans are huge!),” the Telegram post reads. “The in-app features and airdrop campaign will help you get comfortable with Sui—you’ll see firsthand how fast, cheap, and smooth it really is.”
Most major Telegram crypto games—like Notcoin, Hamster Kombat, and Catizen—have launched their tokens on The Open Network (TON), a network that the messaging app’s team originally created in-house before community developers took over. But MemeFi has charted a different path, and will continue to do so even with this transition.
Following the network shift, the MEMEFI token launch has now been finalized for November 12, with an on-chain claim planned. MemeFi previously planned to debut the token on October 9, but that announced date came and went amid apparent behind-the-scenes moves.
MemeFi will take a final snapshot of player activity on November 6 to determine how tokens will be distributed in the airdrop. The developers will share final allocations on November 8, but are letting players “pre-check” their allocation now based on partial data via OKX Wallet.
Alongside the migration announcement and airdrop details, OKX also announced that it has begun pre-market trading for the MEMEFI token on its futures platform, letting traders bet on the eventual price of the Sui token.
