OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Slams Elon Musk’s Grok As ‘Cringey Boomer Humor’

ChatGPT creator Sam Altman criticized Elon Musk and his recently launched Chatbot Grok. Taking a dig at the chatbot Grok, Sam Altman called it “Cringey boomer humor.”

On November 9, Altman shared a screenshot of the latest version of OpenAI-backed ChatGPT, which now allows you to create customized versions of ChatGPT called GPTs.

In the shared screenshot, Altman gave a prompt to ChatGPT, asking to be a chatbot which is known for giving answers in a cringeworthy humorous manner, which shocks to get laugh awkwardly.

In response to the given prompt by Sam Altman, ChatGPT immediately replied, “Great, the chatbot is set up!” He mentioned the chatbot launched by Elon Musk’s xAI startup, which is making headlines for its unique, humorous, and witty response when asked.

Sam Altman called Grok a waste of time, with a caption that GPTs, a new version of OpenAI’s ChatGPT can save a lot of effort, indicating ChatGPT is better than Grok.

After Sam shared the tweet, netizens could not stop but reacted to the same with memes and jokes. While a section of netizens called it an AI cold war between ChatGPT and Grok, others are interested in witnessing the fight further with witty comments like “Sam woke up today and chose violence.”

Notably, days after Elon Musk, launched Grok, an xAI startup-backed AI chatbot, Microsoft’s OpenAI startup launched a new version of ChatGPT, which allows users to create their GPTs.

The AI Rivalry

For those who don’t know the backstory behind constant dig and criticism at each other, once both Sam Altman and Elon Musk were friends.

It is to be noted that Elon Musk, Sam Altman, and Peter Thiel founded OpenAI as a non-profit in 2015. However, the rivalry started after OpenAI, under Altman shifted its vision from being a pure non-profit and ended up in partnership with with Microsoft.

Meanwhile, according to several reports, the launch of Grok last week is not a coincidence. Elon Musk is said to have planned the launch of an independent xAI startup-backed chatbot Grok, ahead of OpenAI’s first in-person event.
