Shiba Inu Team Completes an Emergency Security Upgrade on Shibarium Bridge
The team behind the Shiba Inu ecosystem has completed an emergency security upgrade on Shibarium Bridge.
Kaal Dhairya, a top developer of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, shared the development today. According to him, the team completed security maintenance on Shibarium Bridge, and the service is now fully operational.
Shibarium Bridge Undergoes Emergency Security Upgrade
This announcement comes five hours after he announced a critical security upgrade for Shibarium Bridge, which put the service in temporary maintenance mode. At the time, Dhairya assured Shiba Inu community members that their funds were safe during the maintenance.
Amid the maintenance, Dhairya noted that the team temporarily halted the Shibarium burn mechanism until the issue was fully resolved. Nonetheless, he specified that the number of tokens intended for incineration would continue to accumulate and would be incinerated after the upgrade was complete.

A few hours after the notice, the Shiba Inu top developer disclosed that the maintenance on the Shibarium Bridge had been successfully completed. He commended the team for the swift upgrade.
While Shibarium Bridge’s maintenance is complete, Dhairya said the team is working on enhancing the network’s burn contracts. He said this upgrade would continue throughout the weekend and into the following week.
Shibarium Bridge Botched Launch and Upgrade
It is worth mentioning that Shibarium Bridge has witnessed significant upgrades since its relaunch on August 28, 2023. The service was initially slated for launch on August 16, 2023.
However, it encountered software bugs, trapping millions of dollars on the network for nearly two weeks. After fixing the bugs, the team relaunched the bridge on the mainnet, allowing users to bridge their assets between Ethereum and Shibarium.
While the withdrawal time for LEASH, SHIB, and WETH took between 45 minutes and 3 hours, BONE withdrawal took up to seven days. The team conducted a major upgrade earlier this year to resolve this issue, reducing the BONE transfer time to 45 minutes.
Current Shibarium Stats
In the meantime, Shibarium has witnessed a daily transaction count of over 4 million since November 1. With 4.81 million transactions recorded yesterday, the network now boasts a total count of 583,828,058 (583.82 million) transactions.
Additionally, over 1.99 million blockchain addresses have interacted with Shibarium since its launch, with 8.15 million blocks processed so far.
