Starbucks Korea promotes sustainable sipping using Polygon NFT
Starbucks Korea is making strides in environmental initiatives and customer service. The most recent one follows the brand’s announcement in Korea that patrons who bring their own reusable containers for their orders will be rewarded. Consumers are encouraged to bring their own cups in exchange for a reward. On X, formerly Twitter, Polygon Labs, and Sandeep Nailwal have both confirmed the development.
Starbucks Korea has confirmed that patrons can earn eco-stamps with each use of a personal cup. The accumulated eco-stamps will be deposited into the user’s Starbucks application wallet, which will be accessible for redemption when purchasing a Non-Fungible Token (NFT).
NFTs have been categorized as Basic, Creative, and Artist, among others. Every customer can own only one NFT, which is bought based on how many stamps they have accumulated and redeemed. More details on the process will be made public tentatively in January. The Starbucks application wallet is scheduled to go live next month. A new Tumbler coupon policy will back it.
Kim Beom-soo, the Head of Marketing at Starbucks Korea, has said that they hope to become a catalyst for positive changes and wish to become a star for the environment.
The introduction of the Tumbler coupon falls in line with the rising trend of using personal cups. The number has stayed the same for 2022, standing at 25.3 million. The number of customers using personal cups in 2020 was 17.39 million, followed by 21.9 million in the next year. The current year is expected to end with a number as high as 29.6 million.
NFTs have served artists and other creators well in sustaining their creations. Digital tokens cannot be forged or altered and remain true to their owner until they are sold in a marketplace. Their usage is rising in every field, including, but not limited to, music and art. Starbucks Korea integrating Polygon NFT is a move that other players in the region could replicate and then by others in different countries.
As of now, the Polygon community is bullish about the MATIC forecast. This is evident from the fact that the token has gained 31.27% in the last 7 days. It is currently exchanging hands at $1.02 and is predicted to cross the milestone of $1.5 in the next couple of months.
Polygon Labs is looking forward to two more events.
First, Polygon Labs has scheduled a session on crypto compliance and regulations on X on December 29, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. UTC. It will feature guests like DappRadar, the Aragon Project, and Irina Heaver.
Second, Polygon Labs is opening the doors to Polygon Village’s Grants Program on January 8, 2024. It will allow the community to drive the Community Grants when it comes to their distribution through QF.
Starbucks Korea is embracing Polygon NFTs. Customers are recommended to use personal cups for their orders more and accumulate eco-stamps, which can be redeemed for an NFT. Starbucks Korea will provide more information about the change in January of next year.
