While Cryptocurrencies Experience a Great Rally, Thefts are on the Rise: Security Company Founder Reveals the Technique He Says You Must Apply
The founder of SlowMist, a leading cybersecurity firm, has issued a stark reminder about the risks associated with copying sensitive information from internet-connected computers. He warned that sensitive information on internet-connected devices is vulnerable to theft unless additional protective measures are taken.
“Copying sensitive data to a connected computer creates countless opportunities for that information to be stolen,” the founder said. He noted the critical role of hardware wallets and secure iPhone wallets, explaining that it is increasingly difficult to protect digital assets on an internet-connected computer without these external means of verification.
The SlowMist founder also shared a personal habit to increase clipboard security on mobile devices. After copying information, he immediately clears his clipboard via a quick shortcut on his iPhone. “I use the shortcut widget to clear my clipboard immediately after using it,” he said, sharing the ease and importance of this habit. While this method works on iPhones, he noted that they are not familiar with similar methods for Android devices.
According to the founder, iPhones are generally more secure when it comes to clipboard security. iOS warns users when an app tries to access clipboard content and asks for user permission to paste. This feature adds an extra layer of protection against unwanted clipboard access.
